David Gibson - All The World's A Stage
David Gibson - All The World's A Stage
I must thank David Solomons for giving me the title: “All the World’s a Stage” because normally I find it hard to group my street photographs under a definite theme. The starting point here — centre stage — is the photograph of the little girls in red, lined up for an audition at the back of a London theatre. Because suddenly all the other photographs fall into line, everyone here is turning up for an audition...even the pigeon. Of course the cast does not know about a lurking street photographer, they might briefly catch a glimpse, but like most street photographers I am more comfortable in the wings, off stage. I sometimes wonder about those girls in red, when I go past that exact spot but they are never there. One or two them might, literally, several years later, be on the real stage now.
